Entry: guilloche (n.)

In context: "He exhales a slow breath through rounded lips, looking off up at the ceiling's guilloche border."

Definition: An ornament in the form of two or more bands or strings twisting over each other, so as to repeat the same figure, in a continued series, by the spiral returning of the bands.

Other: I have a disproportionate number of friends involved in architecture and design, so I'm finding this project useful in helping to at least sound like I have a clue what they're talking about.
