Entry:    serape (n.)

In context:   “Miniaturized, endoscopic, and microinvasive cameras traverse entire exterior and interior of one of Incandenza’s technical crew as he sits on a folder serape in the Bottom Common listening to a public forum on uniform North American metriciziation.”

Definition:    A shawl or plaid worn by Spanish-Americans.

Other:    I guess this is perhaps an odd place to put forward a bold claim, but anyways: if you don’t read every single footnote in Infinite Jest, including the 8 page fictitious filmography of J. Incandenza, you’re not only doing a disservice to yourself, but you also can’t claim to have actually read the entire book.
