In context:  Difficult to include this one without giving away a bit much, so I’ll take a pass.

Definition:  The cutting off or omission of the last letter or syllable of a word.

Other:    Awesome!  Here is a case where you’ve probably notice somethin’, but not had the foggiest idea what it’s called.  Apocope.
